The Kansas City Chapter of Better Investing will present an Investor Education Workshop on April 26, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Workshop will provide information to assist investors in making investment decisions in the current market and in longer term planning. The program will feature Bob Adams from the BI Puget Sound Chapter.

One-year subscription to SmallCap Informer, ICLUBcentral’s online guide to aid in finding and decision-making about investing in small cap stocks
One-year subscription to Investor Advisory Service, ICLUBcentral’s award-winning online newsletter that provides consistent, long-term information on companies and informs investors of stocks with growth potential and reasonable valuation

The investment club with the most members in attendance at the Workshop can register all club members to attend the BI Fall Workshop in October 2014 for a reduced fee of $15 each.
Recognition will be given to members of clubs celebrating incremental five-year anniversaries.
During the lunch break, workshop participants will have an opportunity to present stocks of interest for a rapid fire look at an SSG and receive commentary from the workshop leaders.
Cost for the Workshop will be $35.00 for BI members and $40.00 for non-members. Registration at the door will be $45.00. A box lunch will be provided. Members will receive the BI discount by including the digits after the hyphen on their

Adams is retired from 26 years in radio and television broadcasting, and 13 years as a college professor. He serves as volunteer for InvestEd Inc., a non-profit investor education organization; served on the BI Computer Group Advisory Board from 1999 to 2006; has been a Director of the Board of Puget Sound Chapter of BI since 1994. Handy URLs for Stock Analysis: a demonstration of implanting useful website addresses (URLs) into your software to examine expected growth for the company; find information concerning estimates of quarterly and yearly Sales and Earnings, competitors, industry averages, institutional and insider ownership, and other news related to the company.
Your Portfolio-How Ya Doin’?: how to determine how well your portfolio is doing; learn the annualized return since inception using two methods of easily achieving this information utilizing a free spreadsheet.
Annuities-Good, Not So Good, or Bad?: learn about this controversial tool that can be useful for some investors, how to determine when an annuity might be useful, and if so, the dangers and traps to be avoided.
Analyzing an Annual Report the Easy Way: find out what to read, what’s important, and what’s not; use a free spreadsheet to analyze financial numbers that will guide you to useful conclusions.
