This series includes three online classes to help you boost your return using financial statements.
Each session is recorded and may be accessed on your My Classes page. Students have access to all the recordings until 6/30/2013, or for 60 days if purchased after 3/14/2013.
CLASS SCHEDULE:
1 – Digging into the 10-K
In this session we will begin to look at understanding what is happening on the SSG. The focus will be on understanding what Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and the Income Statement are all about. This class lays the groundwork for the subsequent two classes.
2 – Income Statement: Why Do I Care?
The Income Statement is directly related to our SSG. As we learn to read our SSG, the Income Statement helps point out areas that should be our focus and that deserve further attention. This session will help us learn how to find those areas.
3 – Case Study: Getting Better Results
This session is a case study using knowledge learned in the previous two sessions. The company that we will study will be announced 3-4 weeks prior to the session. We encourage you do your own SSG study prior to the class.
Instructors:
Avi Horwitz and Claire Struthers will lead these class discussions.
Abraham (Avi) Horwitz is a director of the New York Chapter. He has taught at the Money Show, BINC and for BetterInvesting chapters country-wide. Avi has also led webinars including Online Stock Studies and the Beginning Investing classes. He was a founding member of the Coast to Coast On Line Investment Club (CTCOLIC) and has contributed to BetterInvesting Magazine, Pursuits and the BetterInvesting website. Avi is a CPA with over 30 years’ experience in his own practice.
Claire Struthers has been a member of the Capital Savvy Investors (CSI) investment club for 8 years and a member of BetterInvesting for 6 years. Claire serves as president of the Northern Lights Chapter and a volunteer on the BetterInvesting Volunteer Advisory Board. She is a project manager with Transamerica Life Insurance Company.
