The Portland Chapter is proud to present not just one but two members of the Betterinvesting Board of Directors: Carol Theine and Jackie Koski.

Carol Theine is a director of the BetterInvesting Puget Sound Chapter, as well as the BetterInvesting Volunteer Advisory Board.  Carol helped start her first investment club in 2002 and is a member of the Puget Sound BetterInvesting Model Investment Club.  Having many unexpected job changes in her life, Carol firmly believes in financial literacy and investment education.  During her professional career, Carol was a computer trainer for a law firm, and then she worked for Microsoft in Product Support Services.

How many "community" tools in the BetterInvesting Online Stock Selection Guide (SSG) can you find that help support our BetterInvesting Community? Learn a few of Carol Theine's favorite tools for building skills and supporting our BetterInvesting community. You can enhance your SSG skills and teach your family and friends to become better investors, too.

Jackie Koski is a director with the BetterInvesting Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana Chapter and a longtime member of the Cincinnati Model Investment Club.  Jackie wrote "Money Letters 2 My Daughter," the 2013 Book of the Year, Adult’s Money Management, awarded by the Institute for Financial Literacy.  In 2015 she was officially recognized with a Congressional Commendation for her accomplishments in the field of financial literacy by the U.S. House of Representatives.

Jackie  talks about how joining a BI investment club was her first step toward understanding investments, compound annual growth rates, the stock market, and building wealth. Her experience with a BI Model Club (CinMIC) for 12 years led her to reaching F.I.R.E. (Financial Independence, Retire Early) in her 40s, while making less than six figures.

Prerequisite

Familiarity with the BetterInvesting Online Tools. A desire to learn about our volunteer and education opportunities, and to share what you learn with family, friends, or your club would be a plus!
