Investing Fundamentals – Ready to Roll Again
November 9, 10 and 14
BetterInvesting California Chapters have joined to create this 3-part virtual investor event.
We did it last year!  We’re doing it again!

Submit Your BetterInvesting Club’s Portfolio by October 22 for possible review
by Scott Horsburgh (see Round 3)

Round 1: Basic Stock Analysis – Tuesday, November 9, 6:30 to 7:30 pm, PST, No Charge.  Use this listing to register.
Join us as we explain what BetterInvesting’s Stock Selection Guide (SSG) is and why investors use it to find good quality, reasonably priced growth stocks.  We won’t be completing an SSG.  That comes in Round 2.  But we will fully explain all parts of the SSG and how they “hang together.”  If you are new to investing or looking for a refresher about the SSG, this class is for you.  While the information is still fresh, join Round 2 tomorrow.

Round 2: SSG Stock Study of Lockheed Martin (LMT) – Wednesday, November 10, 6:30 to 7:45 pm, PST, No Charge.  To register, see our separate event listing for November 10.
This stock study of Lockheed Martin (LMT) uses the online SSGPLUS software and audience participation to analyze the stock and complete a First Cut submission.  LMT is a large-size company and the largest defense contractor globally. It has dominated the western market for high-end fighter aircraft since 2001.  We will poll the audience to complete the four SSG judgment sections and record our findings on the First Cut form. After the class, the instructors will submit the First Cut for possible publication on the BI website.  LMH is featured In the October issue of BetterInvesting Magazine (p. 21) and is covered by the Value Line Investment Survey.  Looking to the Future, make the commitment to attend our November 14 event, too.

Round 3: A Club Portfolio “Repair Shop” – Sunday, November 14, 4:00 – 5:15 pm, PST, $10.  To register, see our separate event listing for Nov. 14.
Attend a live “Repair Shop” conducted by Scott Horsburgh, a co-author of BetterInvesting Magazine’s very popular “Repair Shop” feature, which we all read every month for insights about our own club portfolios.  Scott is a great resource, as his bio (below) attests!  He will evaluate a portfolio, suggest improvements and give us a rare opportunity to hear him answer questions from the audience.

Submit a Portfolio: Scott will choose a portfolio to review from among those submitted by California BetterInvesting clubs to vicepresident@silicon.betterinvesting.net  by October 22.  If your club would like to participate, ask your club president to send in your portfolio with a brief narrative about the club, plus a contact name and email address.  We will forward all club portfolios and information to Scott.  Don’t forget to register for the Round 3 on November 14th and profit from the live Repair Shop!

Registration: Registration for this event with Scott is handled and confirmed through Eventbrite.  Watch for a separate email from the GoToWebinar system that will include the link you need to attend. Registration cancellation requests for refunds must be received in Eventbrite no later than 72 hours (3 days) prior to the event.

Scott Horsburgh’s Bio: Scott has been a professional investment manager for more than 30 years.  Prior to joining his current firm, Provident Investment Management (formerly Seger-Elvekrog, Inc.), he spent six years managing pension funds and charitable trusts for the National Bank of Detroit, one of the nation’s largest banks.  Scott was named President of Provident in 2004.  He is a contributor to BetterInvesting Magazine and a speaker at investor conferences and has been quoted by numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and Business Week.  Scott is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®), as is the entire senior investment staff at Provident.
