Will I see differences in the fundamental data when I study a company?

As with any data source, there might be differences in the figures provided. This is mainly because each data provider uses its own algorithms to 'normalize' earnings to remove the effects of special items and one-time events. Differences in other fundamental data fields may occur because of how various data providers handle the effects of mergers, acquisitions, spinoffs, discontinued operations and other company events. A good practice is to compare figures from the data source against those contained in company 10-Q and 10-K filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission; investigate any significant differences to see whether the data source is in error.
