How do I update my stock data in my Stock Selection Guide (CoreSSG or SSGPlus)?
Stock data in your Stock Selection Guide (SSG) doesn’t update automatically when you open it. The BetterInvesting database is refreshed daily with the previous trading day’s closing prices and financial data, but you need to update your SSG to see the most recent information. Updating your study ensures you are looking at the most recent price and fundamental data available.
There are several ways to update stock data in CoreSSG or SSGPlus:
If you have a saved SSG open:
- Click Data in the top menu.
- Click Refresh Study Data.
This is the fastest way to bring an individual study up to date.
2. Update from the My Studies (Portfolios & Studies) tab
If you are on the My Studies page:
- Locate the saved study you want to update.
- Click the first (left-most) icon in the row (Update Study).
This updates that specific study without opening it.
In each of the above situations, you will be asked if you want to overwrite the existing data or create a copy of the data.
Overwrite updates the study in place with the latest data (the default and most common choice).
Create a copy saves a duplicate study with updated data, leaving the original unchanged for comparison or historical reference.
3. Update studies in a portfolio
To update all studies within a specific portfolio:
- Click on the portfolio name.
- Click the first green icon in the row (Update Study).
This updates every study in that portfolio.
4. Update all studies in your account (rarely needed)
- Click All Studies in the portfolio list.
- Click the first icon in the row (Update Study).
This will update every study you’ve saved. Because this can take time, most users only do this occasionally.
