Description

Elder Scams, Fraud, and Financial Exploitation - Financial Safety and Security as We Age by Steve Benton, Financial Exploitation Specialist and Subject Matter Expert

Learn how to recognize the most common scams that target older adults, how to understand the tactics used to gain trust and manipulate victims, and practical steps that can be taken to avoid becoming a victim of fraud. Real-world examples and opportunities to ask questions are included in this session. Our presenter was a FINRA Investigator and Securities Industry Arbitrator for several decades. He is now a financial counselor with the non-profit The Senior Source's Elder Financial Safety Center in Dallas and collaborates with the Probate Court and the DA's office where exploitation of elder adults is addressed focusing on prevention, protection, and prosecution.  Although adults 65 and older are among the most vulnerable to financial scams and fraud, family members also need to learn how to identify warning signs early on. Register for this important financial safety and security program.
