Model Investment Club

The Rocky Mountain Chapter BetterInvesting Model Investment Club is a demonstration of an operating investment club. This model club is focused on small and mid-sized companies as defined by BetterInvesting. Often hard to find and evaluate, these potential gems have annual revenues of less than $10 Billion. A ten to fifteen-minute education session proceeds with the stock presentation.

Stock Presentation: Innovative Aerospace (IA), f/k/a Innovative Solutions (ISSC)

Innovative Solutions and Support, Inc. specializes in engineering, manufacturing, and supply of advanced avionics solutions. The Company's global product reach and customer base span commercial, business and aviation and military markets, catering to both airframe manufacturers and aftermarket services for fixed-wing and rotorcraft applications. 

Presenter:  Betsy Wills
    For over 40 years, Betsy was a securities and corporate attorney. She has been a trial attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Denver Regional Office; an attorney with two Denver-based national brokerage firms; and a University of Denver Sturm College of Law adjunct professor where she taught securities law.
    During her career, she represented companies conducting initial public offerings, clients in regulatory defense matters and investors who have been victims of fraud and unsuitable investment recommendations.
    Betsy is an active member in an investment club, which she founded in 1999. 
 

Education focus:   "Improve Portfolio Performance: A look at PERT's buy valuation metrics." 

    Using the RMC Model Investment Club portfolio, Dori will identify the buy valuation metrics on the offensive (right) side of BI's online PERT Report, provide guidance on how to interpret them, and briefly touch upon quality and diversification. Finally, Dori will summarize what this analysis suggests for the RMC Model Club's portfolio, incorporating information from last spring's presentation on the sell side. 

Presenter: Dori Raser
     Dori Raser is President of Better Investing's Golden West Chapter and a volunteer with the Rocky Mountain Chapter. She currently serves as the Portfolio Manager of the Golden West Model Investment Club and is a past President of the Rocky Mountain Model Investment Club. Dori retired from LAUSD, where she worked as an Assistant Principal, Elementary Instructional Specialist. Prior to that she has 10 years experience working at Merrill Lynch as a Registered Assistant with Institutional Sales. While she hopes to someday return to Colorado, she currently lives with her husband in Los Angeles, California.
