Description
The Rocky Mountain Chapter BetterInvesting Model Investment Club is a demonstration of an operating investment club. This model club is focused on small and mid-sized companies as defined by BetterInvesting. Often hard to find and evaluate, these potential gems have annual revenues of less than $10 Billion. A ten to fifteen-minute education session proceeds with the stock presentation.

Stock Presentation: Duolingo (DULO)
Duolingo is the world’s most popular language-learning app, operating on a freemium model with over 135 million monthly active users. Founded in 2011 and public since 2021, the company has expanded into math, music, chess and early literacy, and operates the Duolingo English Test, accepted by over 5,000 institutions worldwide (including 4,300+ in North America).
Duolingo has achieved consistent profitability, minimal long-term debt, and holds over $1.1 billion in cash. With paid subscriber penetration at only ~9% of users, significant monetization upside remains. Management guided for over $1.0 billion in 2025 revenue (raised to $1.0275–$1.0315 billion midpoint, +37–38% YoY).
Stock Presentation by Tom Devries
Tom retired after a 40-year career in supply-chain leadership, including 15 years at Nestlé as General Manager, Supply Chain Manager, and Logistics Manager. He now applies that same analytical rigor to researching companies. Outside of investing, Tom enjoys hiking, skiing, volunteering as a Bible-study leader, and AARP Tax-Aide.

Dori Raser is currently the Portfolio Manager of the Golden West Model Investment Club and a volunteer with the Rocky Mountain Chapter. Dori served as the Presiding Partner of the SoCal Model Investment Club in the Golden West Chapter and as a volunteer in the Rocky Mountain Model Investment Club. In addition, she served as the Project Manager with the Multi-Chapter Consortium for Education, and serves on the New Volunteer Development Program training committee. She is currently retired, but has worked both as a licensed stockbroker assistant with Merrill Lynch Institutional Sales and as an educator/administrator with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
