Model Investment Club of Northern Virginia/Montgomery County MD
The D.C. Regional Chapter of BetterInvesting™ established the Model Investment Club of Northern Virginia (MicNova) in 2008. In 2017, the chapter launched the Model Investment Club of Montgomery County, MD (MCMC). Both clubs provide both new and experienced investors with a forum to demonstrate how an investment club functions while adhering to the BetterInvesting™ methodology for choosing investments. Portfolio management and educational presentations are also include in each monthly club meeting.
You will benefit from belonging to an investment club. Investment clubs are the gateway to an investing learning experience. You learn, share and invest regularly. You discover growth companies while investing prudently, remaining disciplined and exercising patience and good stewardship.
Model Investment Club Meetings
The D.C. Regional Chapter Model Investment Clubs conduct investment club meetings each month. Our meetings are open to the public. You don’t have to be a member of BetterInvesting™ or the Model Investment Club to attend. The monthly club meetings are held online from 7pm to 9pm via the GoToMeeting app and consist of an education topic, new stock presentation, and a review of the club portfolio. Anyone can participate in the Investment Club meetings. Visitors are welcome and are encouraged to participate in discussions.

Guiding Principles
The Model Investment Clubs follow BetterInvesting™ Principles, which include these four guidelines when investing:- Invest a set amount regularly, once a month over your lifetime, regardless of market conditions.
- Reinvest all dividends and capital gains for compound growth.
- Buy growth stocks - companies with sales and earnings that are increasing at a rate faster than the industry.
- Diversify your portfolio - invest in different industries and different size companies.
The BetterInvesting™ Stock Selection Guide (SSG) tool is the foundation for the operating success of the Model Clubs. The SSG is used perform stock studies, identify potential investments and manage the club portfolio. Library materials available for free to library card holders (such as Morningstar and Valueline) are supplemental resources used to research individual companies.
BetterInvesting™ is a non-profit, tax exempt organization whose membership consists of investment clubs and individual investors. The DC Regional Chapter is an all volunteer group, dedicated to investor education.
